Bolduc moves to delay high school history curriculum reform

MONTREAL — In the two weeks since Yves Bolduc took over the education portfolio, he’s iced the former Parti Québécois government’s mandatory CEGEP history course and axed the $4 million research chairs on Quebec history and identity promised by his predecessor.

Now Bolduc is pressing the reset button on the controversial reform of the high school history curriculum.

Citing teachers and school principals who felt the reform was too hasty, Bolduc said it will probably be put off by a year.

But in that time, the new ministry will look at all aspects of the history class — including the politics behind it.
